Open Heaven 17 June 2018 Sunday – Don’t Misuse Your Tongue

Open Heaven 17 June 2018 Memorise: Say unto them, As truly ad I live, saith the LORD, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you: Numbers 14:28

Read: Number 14:20-29 Open Heaven 17 June 2018

20 Then the Lord said: “I have pardoned, according to your word;

21 but truly, as I live, all the earth shall be filled with the glory of the Lord

22 because all these men who have seen My glory and the signs which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have put Me to the test now these ten times, and have not heeded My voice,

23 they certainly shall not see the land of which I swore to their fathers, nor shall any of those who rejected Me see it.

24 But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.

25 Now the Amalekites and the Canaanites dwell in the valley; tomorrow turn and move out into the wilderness by the Way of the Red Sea.”

26 And the Lord spoke to Moses and Aaron, saying,

27 “How long shall I bear with this evil congregation who complain against Me? I have heard the complaints which the children of Israel make against Me.

28 Say to them, ‘As I live,’ says the Lord, ‘just as you have spoken in My hearing, so I will do to you:

29 The carcasses of you who have complained against Me shall fall in this wilderness, all of you who were numbered, according to your entire number, from twenty years old and above.

Message – Open Heaven 17 June 2018 Sunday Daily Devotional

Apostle James gave a profound description of the power embedded in the tongue. In  James 3:5-6, he wrote:

“Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth! And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set set on fire of hell.”

In Numbers 12:20-29, we see in practical terms the evil effect of misusing the tongue. Moses had sent out some men to spy out the promise Land. Ten out of the twelve spies that were sent out returned with an evil report driven by unbelief that said many things which showed their lack of confidence in the God of their fathers, despite the fact that He had severally demonstrated His mighty power to them in the course of their journey through the wilderness. They seemed not to know their worth and hence they described themselves as grasshoppers and the inhabitants of the land as giants (Numbers 13:33). This testimony of the faithless spies angered the lord and He gave his verdict contained in Numbers 14:28

‎”Say unto them, as truly as I  live, saith the Lord, as ye have spoken in mine ears, so will I do to you.”

This outcome, caused by the evil report of the ten spies, established the truth of Proverbs 18:21, which say:

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love of shall eat the fruit thereof.”

We all will be accountable to God for every word that we say. It is therefore crucial that we are conscious of the pronouncements and confessions that proceed from our mouths. Beloved, you need to exercise more caution in time of distress and anger to avoid making negative pronouncements against yourself, your situation, your children and everything that concerns you. When you find yourself in difficult situations, ensure that words you speak profess your faith in God that he is able to do what He says He will do , in spite of the prevailing circumstances around you. I pray that as you open your mouth today , the Lord will fill it with words that will bring glory to His Name. I pray that you will be able to see the hand of God in evert situation around you through the eyes of faith from now on in Jesus’Name

Open Heaven 17 June 2018 Hymn 12

Sing hymn 12 – TAKE MY LIFE, AND LET IT BE

How sweet the Name of Jesus sounds

In a believer’s ear!

It soothes his sorrows, heals his wounds,

And drives away his fear.

It makes the wounded spirit whole,

And calms the troubled breast;

’Tis manna to the hungry soul,

And to the weary, rest.

Jesus! My Shepherd, Husband, Friend,

O Prophet, Priest and King,

My Lord, my Life, my Way, my End,

Accept the praise I bring.

Weak is the effort of my heart,

And cold my warmest thought;

But when I see Thee as Thou art,

I’ll praise Thee as I ought.

Till then I would Thy love proclaim

With every fleeting breath,

And may the music of Thy Name

Refresh my soul in death!
